About the position

The challenge of the Software Engineer in a few words: At Averna, we help our customers ensure product quality through our unique expertise and innovation. Our renowned customers’ systems and products are always improving and adapting to technology, leaving our teams with many interesting challenges and projects to tackle. As a Software Engineer, your expertise in software engineering will be used to develop complex solutions for various Customers located in the Bay Area. We will encourage you to innovate and voice your ideas on a regular basis. We are looking for someone that is passionate about working in the high-tech industry.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate, and support advanced software solutions tailored to client needs.
  • Lead specific projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver robust software and hardware systems.
  • Build Software architectures and be able to divide complex projects into modules.
  • Develop tools and methodologies that enhance system performance and reliability.
  • Evaluate system architectures, create validation plans, and conduct risk assessments.
  • Perform code reviews and proactively resolve technical challenges.
  • Have a hands-on approach to integrate software with hardware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in software, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of software development experience with strong proficiency in Python.
  • Solid experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) in industrial automation environments.
  • Proficiency with LabVIEW and NI tools; certifications such as CLD, CLA, or CTD are a strong asset.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering principles and best practices.
  • Strong grasp of object-oriented programming and design patterns.
  • A proactive, results-driven mindset with strong time management and ownership of responsibilities.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); French or Spanish are an asset.
  • Local presence required with valid work authorization for the USA.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hardware automation (instrument control or robotics).
  • Experience working with a test & measurements framework in a manufacturing environment or in industrial automation.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and concepts.
  • Experience with Git and Linux.
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills.
  • Ready to learn new tools and navigate in unfamiliar environments.
