Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Software Engineer to join our diverse team, working on the Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD) portfolio of programs in Redondo Beach, CA. The selected candidate will develop software for an Army Air Defense System that includes defense against manned aircraft; rockets, artillery, and mortars; unmanned aerial systems (UAS); and cruise missile defense.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs applications software and systems to process messages and maintain force structure, track management, and battlefield geometry data.
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; ensures software standards are met.

Requirements

  • Understanding of software design principles and proficiency in object-oriented programming languages (any combination of Java, C, C++).
  • Works well with other engineers on a schedule driven program.
  • Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills.
  • Experience functioning in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Hold or able to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
  • Experience with Ada programming language.
  • Experience managing daily software builds.
  • Ability to work with diverse technical, programmatic and user communities, supporting the modernization, capability development, integration and test of an Army command and control system.
  • Current DoD Secret clearance.
