This position is based in our Portland, ME office. The right candidate will be a highly motivated individual ready to join the PTC Portland Development team. Your responsibilities include developing software on project teams, designing software, collaborating with stakeholders, and participating in departmental initiatives. You are a problem solver at heart and enjoy leveraging technology to provide best in class solutions. You are an adaptable, driven, autonomous yet collaborative engineer eager to help us continue to build great products. You are striving to continuously improve your technical skills by studying software design and implementation techniques, state-of-the-art development tools, participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications. You will be part of a fast-moving, responsive team using Agile development processes to create world class software products in the industrial automation space. You will collaborate with other team members and product owners in the design and implementation of product features.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute new features to a codebase consisting primarily of C++ and C# but also including some front end javascript code.
  • Participate in technical and strategic decisions on a SCRUM team.
  • Work across teams on department and R&D acceleration goals.
  • Identify and implement new tools and technologies.

Requirements

  • Design, write, and modify software in a large codebase.
  • Understand modern software development principles.
  • Understand Windows and/or Linux development processes.
  • Troubleshooting skills. Able to analyze complex systems incorporating application software, 3rd party libraries, operating systems, and networks, and determine root cause.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM field.
  • 2+ years' experience in professional software development.
  • Experience with at least one or more strongly-typed object-oriented languages, C++/C# preferred.
  • Experience with Front-end JavaScript frameworks (such as React or Angular).
  • Experience with CSS for manipulating Web UI layouts.
