Software Engineering Intern
About The Position
Overview: The purpose of the internship is to provide meaningful professional hands-on experience to students with leadership potential and proven academic performance. Werfen hires students majoring in Engineering and Life Sciences fields into this internship program based on business need. Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities. Position Description: To perform entry level work of a routine nature requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related tasks. The Intern will be involved in the day-to-day activities of the team included aiding other departments as they relate to department projects. We expect the intern to gain an in-depth knowledge of the product and its associated processes, particularly the process activities in-which they will be directly involved. The intern will have opportunities to assist in nearly all aspects of the workflow. Participate in product design, development, verification, troubleshooting, and delivery of portions of system, major subsystems, or tools. Create end-to-end computing solutions for edge and cloud environments using industry standard software engineering practices. Collaborate with Digital Solution Team and participate in daily stand ups and meetings. Grow with the support of your team and help others on the team grow by providing thoughtful feedback and uplifting those around you. Work both independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced development team, with clear, positive, and constructive communication. Assist test automation development by converting functional requirements into Gherkin tests. Improve test coverage, reviewing and filling gaps in existing automation. Clear communicator - you are concise and articulate in speech and writing. Review process procedures, change orders, equipment specifications, validation plans, and reports. Performs research on technology, equipment and tooling to improve process quality, yield or cost. Generates proposals based on research. Assistance in creating, reviewing and maintaining department files. Performs experiments, analyzes and interprets numerical data from experiments. Summarizes findings by computer readouts, statistical summaries, graphs and other methods. Have experience and interest in some (not all) of the following: AWS, Java, Angular, Machine Learning, Agile Environment, Python, and DevOps, Test Automation.
Requirements
- Requires confidence in using Microsoft Word and Excel tools.

- Currently pursuing B.S. in Engineering, Finance, Business, Marketing with a minimum of 2 college semesters complete.
- Ability to multitask.
Nice To Haves
- Have experience and interest in some (not all) of the following: AWS, Java, Angular, Machine Learning, Agile Environment, Python, and DevOps, Test Automation.
- Awareness and familiarity with industry automation testing tools, frameworks, trends, and best practices.
- Experience reading and writing code in a programming language.
- Java/Pyton development experience.
