Job Summary The Software Engineering Manager leads a team that builds and supports critical metadata services powering Entertainment based Customer experiences. This includes Video‑on‑Demand ingestion, Multiview, Single Live Event orchestration, and other high‑visibility content workflows. The role oversees the full software development lifecycle, ensuring high‑quality engineering delivery, operational reliability, and continuous improvement. The manager provides technical leadership, guides architectural decisions, conducts code reviews, and supports team development, with a strong focus on ensuring that changes scale effectively across downstream systems and client integrations in a distributed environment. Job Description This role manages the Philadelphia-based engineering team responsible for metadata systems that orchestrate how content is ingested, processed, and delivered across a large portfolio of entertainment experiences. The team works closely with streaming providers and internal content partners to integrate incoming feeds, support live event workflows, and enable advanced viewing experiences such as Multiview. The manager ensures that the platform is scalable, reliable, and capable of supporting diverse client needs, while driving the technical direction, development practices, and operational excellence of the team. This position is ineligible for visa sponsorship. Requirements

  • Strong experience with Java and the Spring Framework, including support for newer Java versions (transitioning to Java 21).
  • Working knowledge of distributed systems across on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Hands-on familiarity with Kubernetes, containerization, and DevOps concepts or tooling.
  • Experience conducting code reviews and mentoring engineers on best practices.
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (MongoDB strongly preferred; experience with Oracle or similar is a plus).
  • Understanding of API design principles and ability to evaluate downstream impacts of changes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional groups with differing requirements.
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, including comfort making decisions in ambiguous or complex situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience leading software engineering teams, including performance management and professional development.

  • Exposure to Python for scripting or automation.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of software and operations engineers, providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Oversees the planning, design, and development of software and services, including new capabilities and enhancements.
  • Provides architectural and technical direction, ensuring scalable, maintainable, and reliable solutions.
  • Conducts code reviews and ensures adherence to software engineering best practices.
  • Manages project delivery, ensuring work meets scope, quality, timeline, and budget expectations.
  • Oversees software release processes, including planning, deployment, and post-release monitoring.
  • Partners with cross-functional groups to define product requirements and drive alignment across stakeholders.
  • Ensures the engineering team stays current with emerging technologies and promotes continuous learning.
  • Evaluates and recommends database and storage solutions, including relational and non-relational options.
  • Supports operations for metadata ingestion workflows, live event metadata, and distributed systems spanning on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Makes informed decisions by assessing potential downstream and client impacts, especially for API-driven integrations.
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
