Software Engineering Managers have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of Engineers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure Engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 3 years of experience in engineering and technical leadership with people management.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in C or C++.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Experience bringing up human interface devices/input stack, and peripherals.
  • Experience in kernel system interface.

Responsibilities

  • Decisive technical direction and streamlining interactions across multiple teams.
  • Manage a team of software engineers, driving their technical development, career growth, and enhancing the collective engineering knowledge base across the team.
  • Leverage broad and deep technical knowledge to uncover and resolve subtle, complex technical problems in firmware and touchpad, touchscreen controllers, while leading design and code reviews to ensure best practices.
  • Serve as a key cross-functional collaborator, partnering with multiple internal teams (e.g., Android platform) and external entities, including Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEMs), Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs), System on a Chip (SoC) partners to integrate and advance touch and input technologies.
  • Exhibit leadership across multiple groups, aligning stakeholders with engaging priorities to resolve conflicts and achieve goals in the best interest of Google.
