About the position

Neogen is seeking a Software Product Owner to manage scrum teams of software developers, quality assurance engineers, and product managers to deliver new functionality to the food safety industry. The Product Owner is responsible for capturing scope, prioritizing, and planning delivery for their teams, specifically: Soleris, PPRA and MDS software platforms. Neogen is seeking a driven and collaborative Product Owner to support the end-to-end lifecycle of innovative software products that power our business. In this role, you’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to define product requirements, optimize design and performance, and ensure seamless delivery of high-quality solutions. This position bridges business and technical goals—translating customer needs into actionable plans and ensuring alignment throughout the development process.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product managers, engineers, QA, and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success, subject matter experts, and end-users to gather insights and translate needs into detailed product requirements.
  • Document and manage user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, and product artifacts.
  • Deliver clear design specifications and work closely with development teams to ensure accurate implementation.
  • Engage in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
  • Optimize designs and user experiences for high-performance across on-premises and hardware-sensitive environments.
  • Translate the product roadmap into clearly defined epics and user stories that reflect customer value.
  • Own the product backlog, prioritizing tasks and features based on business impact.
  • Lead the end-to-end product launch process in collaboration with engineering and support teams.
  • Proactively identify areas for process improvement and drive adoption of best practices in Agile delivery.

Requirements

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
  • Highly organized and self-driven, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Solid understanding of Agile methodology and product ownership best practices.
  • Experience using Azure DevOps for backlog management, user stories, and workflow tracking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in fast-paced, evolving environments.
