About The Position

If so, read on… I’m the QA Manager at RTA, and I’m looking for a Software Quality Engineer to own the automation test suite for our software—while occasionally rolling up your sleeves to do manual testing as needed. This role is about creating reliable automated tests, coaching teammates on best practices, and translating complex business requirements into robust test scenarios. Requirements

  • 5+ years of software testing experience, with significant focus on automation.
  • Proficiency with Java, JavaScript, Node.js, Selenium (or similar automation frameworks), MSSQL, Docker, AWS, and GitHub.
  • Bachelor’s Degree not required but preferred, especially in a technical or engineering-related field.
  • This is a hybrid role with expectation of being in the office MWF.

Responsibilities

  • Automate, Automate, Automate: Build and maintain robust test frameworks using Java-based tools (e.g., Selenium), ensuring coverage of both frontend/UI and backend/API.
  • Manual Testing (As Needed): Perform hands-on testing for complex or one-off scenarios where automation isn’t yet in place.
  • Test Strategy & Planning: Partner with product managers and engineering leads to prioritize testing efforts based on risk and impact.
  • Code Review & Collaboration: Participate in peer reviews of automated tests, and provide constructive feedback on QA best practices.
  • Performance & Load Testing (Bonus): Identify opportunities to stress-test our software, ensuring it scales gracefully.
  • Reporting & Metrics: Track testing progress, defects, and automation coverage; communicate these metrics across the team and leadership.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively suggest improvements to testing methods, tools, and processes.
