Our Battle Management Software Department is looking for a talented Software Section Leader who is enthusiastic, hardworking, and proactive in supporting leadership, development, test, and other tasks throughout a software life cycle. The successful candidate will work in an exciting environment, providing technical leadership and creative solutions to complex technical system and software integration problems. The Software Engineering Manager will work closely with other engineers to design ideal solutions with the end user and operational needs in mind. The role also provides technical leadership through mentorship, subject matter expertise, team leadership, and participation in proposal, design, and process improvement. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Software Section Leader will report to the Software Department Leader and serve as a supervisor within the department. In this position, the candidate will be responsible for a group of software engineers working on various internal and external programs.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of eight (8) or more years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in leadership such as Scrum Master/ Team Lead/ Technical Area Lead on a multi-discipline team.
  • Experience working and solving complex issues with both internal and external customer input.
  • Experience developing design, requirement, and user documentation.
  • Experience in architecting, developing, testing software using C, C++, C#, Java or closely related software languages.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Embedded software architecture experience on systems using a Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), e.g., Linux, Green Hills (GH) Integrity, VxWorks, or other.
  • Working knowledge in computer scripting language such as Shell/Perl/Python.
  • Proficiency utilizing software debugging tools to troubleshoot software implementation and ensure integrity of the software products.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, empathetic leadership style.
  • Background in hiring, onboarding, and building a collaborative team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the design, architecture, and development of critical capabilities in an active Agile environment.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills with ability to coordinate the activities of multiple engineers working on a wide range of programs, ensuring successful technical execution and delivery of solutions for the customer.
  • Be adept at communicating (verbal and written) with all levels within and outside the company, ability to prepare and deliver presentations/summaries which appropriately address the intended audience.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies to increase software development productivity and support strategic product development
  • Empower engineering staff to excel by ensuring proper training, removing barriers, providing constructive feedback, as well as ensuring proper execution of organizational and department policies and procedures.
  • Support proposal development, including technical solution, price, and schedule content.
