Alexandria Insights is seeking Software Systems Engineers (Mid-Level and Senior-Level) to support a U.S. Marine Corps acquisition program in Stafford, VA. This is not a traditional software development role. Instead, candidates will serve as government-facing technical advisors, responsible for evaluating, validating, and integrating software deliverables provided by OEMs and vendors within complex tactical systems. The role focuses on software assurance, documentation review, and system-level integration across hardware, software, and cybersecurity domains throughout the acquisition lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field (experience may substitute)
  • Mid-Level: 5–9 years | Senior-Level: 10+ years
  • Experience with DoD acquisition processes and lifecycle documentation
  • Familiarity with SVDs, CDRLs, and systems engineering artifacts
  • Understanding of software integration within hardware-based systems
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting USMC, Navy, or DoD tactical systems
  • Familiarity with SETR processes (SRR, SFR, SVR, etc.)
  • Understanding of RMF, STIGs, and cybersecurity requirements
  • Experience assessing vendor/OEM deliverables
  • Exposure to Agile or DevSecOps (oversight perspective)
  • Tools: Jira, Confluence, Git

Responsibilities

  • Review and validate Software Version Descriptions (SVDs) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Evaluate OEM/vendor software deliverables, including CDRLs, technical documentation, and test artifacts
  • Assess software against system requirements, interface definitions, and operational needs
  • Identify gaps in traceability, verification, and configuration management
  • Support development and review of system-level artifacts (e.g., ICDs, specifications, test plans)
  • Analyze software integration, interoperability, and cybersecurity impacts across systems
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), technical reviews, and SETR events (SRR, SFR, etc.)
  • Support test planning, execution, and evaluation
  • Provide recommendations to the government on software readiness, risks, and compliance posture
