About The Position

We work directly with 20+ municipalities and 50+ jurisdictions, operate highly regulated facilities in 10+ locations, and have 1,000+ employees. We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Sorter to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 653 Charles St. in San Jose and limited job-related travel may be required. GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Sorter to provide support to one or more facilities. This role’s main function will sort a variety of material that ranges from recyclables to trash in order to minimize contamination and to maintain high recyclable rates.

Requirements

  • The ability to distinguish between commodities with ease in order separate the material properly.
  • The work habits to have are reliable transportation, be punctual, and reliable in order to minimize disruptions to the day-to-day operations.
  • The ability to work as a team and work well with others.
  • Proficiency in English and/or Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures to ensure safety.
  • Be able to extract at least 48 items per minute to maximize the recycling potential.
  • Ability to follow directions, daily procedures, and protocols.
  • Be able to work near others while sorting material from either side of the conveyor belt to increase productivity.
  • Ability to stand and collect material for extended periods of time in front of a conveyor belt requiring the use of both hands with good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
