We are currently seeking a Sourcing and Quality Engineer focusing on the Supply Chain to join the Daktronics Divisional Manufacturing team. Technical Learning and Utilization The Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) utilizing tools like 8D, SPC, FMEA, PPAP, DoE. Closed-Loop Quality Management systems including Non-Conformances (NC), Temporary Deviation Request (Variance), Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA), First Article Inspection (FAI), Supplier Quality Audits. Compliance with ISO9001 and EN12966. Readily discover and adopt emerging technologies. Personal Development Further develop key competency in Customer Focus, Manages Complexity, Strategic Mindset, Decision Quality, Tech Savvy, and Ensures Accountability. Where is this opportunity located? This individual should reside within commutable distance from Brookings, South Dakota. Much of the work for this position can be done from a home office; however, a successful candidate will need to be available in Brookings or Sioux Falls locations for events such as supplier visits, in-person collaboration, etc. on a regular basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or science-based degree plus experience or equivalent from a college or technical school.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. Be able to stand or sit for the entire shift.
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Working knowledge/experience in Lean Manufacturing, Quality, and Six Sigma implementation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and self-motivation are required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business communications, governmental regulations, industry standards, and technical procedures, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to travel overnight to domestic and international locations.
  • Advanced computer skills including experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and digital photo editing.
  • The selected individual must be able to travel by air and ground and comply with the Daktronics Driver Eligibility Policy to begin and maintain employment. This requirement will be verified through a motor vehicle record (MVR) check conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws.
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with various quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, DoE, SPC, and various problem-solving tools.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP), or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in statistical packages (such as Mini tab).
  • Familiarity with Daktronics products and internal processes and computer systems.
  • Three to five years of experience in product design engineering.
  • Three to five years’ experience in Quality Engineering in a manufacturing environment or Supplier Quality is preferred.
