About The Position

As Sourcing Manager – Indirect Materials & Services, you will oversee indirect procurement spend across Simpson Strong-Tie, including playing a lead role in the development and execution of a comprehensive indirect sourcing strategy. This role will oversee high levels of spend across a growing range of categories, including Professional Services, Facility Expenditures, Marketing, Technology, Travel, Office Services, among others. You will drive cost savings initiatives, ensure supplier performance, and determine opportunities for continuous improvement in support of department and Company objectives. You bring experience and expertise in supplier sourcing, supplier management, and contract negotiations, and you work well with others to solve problems and deliver results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Operations, Finance, or Supply Chain-related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in Procurement, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Operations, or Finance.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the Supply Chain and demonstrated experience with Procurement & Strategic Sourcing Processes.
  • Strong Negotiation skills: Vendor Negotiations & Vendor Management.
  • Ability to reach favorable agreements and resolve conflicts.
  • Robust understanding of Total Cost of Ownership, Business Case Development and Return on Investment as part of vendor sourcing.
  • Financial Management: Monitors spending and ensures financial accountability to meet organizational goals.
  • Project Management skills: Keep key initiatives on track through active collaboration with relevant Simpson departments and/or branch locations as well as through supplier management.
  • Collaboration and Influence: Ability to work and lead projects in a decentralized organization.
  • Data Analytics: Proficient in advanced reporting and analytics to evaluate performance, support data-driven decision-making, and measure the impact of key initiatives. Leverage data and reporting tools to inform recommendations and assess the financial impact of freight operations on overall company performance.
  • Lean/continuous improvement mindset.
  • Business Acumen: Understands the business and industry landscape, uses financial and strategic insights to guide decisions, and aligns actions with organizational goals.
  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build consensus with leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Technical: Experience with SAP, or other comparable ERP systems, including using and interacting with MRP systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage indirect spend categories in collaboration with the department(s) or branch location(s) using the products or services.
  • Analyze spend data and leverage a range of sourcing strategies to optimize the total Cost of Ownership.
  • Conduct sourcing events (RFP/RFI/RFQ/RFx’s) as part of vendor selection, vendor performance management, and to achieve cost savings targets.
  • Determine the optimal supplier mix and develop efficient supply solutions based on quality of service and total costs.
  • Review and negotiate favorable contract terms in partnership with the legal team, perform supplier evaluations, and conduct Business Reviews to drive supplier performance.
  • Partner with Branch teams in the management of day-to-day activity of active and potential suppliers, effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise, and maintain effective supplier relationships.
  • Drive optimization initiatives, develop and implement sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings and performance targets.
  • Ensure cost optimization, supply continuity, and material/service quality.
  • Collaborate with the sourcing and cross functional teams to address evolving business needs.
  • Identify opportunities to increase spend under management and support additional indirect categories across the organization.
  • Collaborate across departments and branch locations to understand local needs, ensure compliance with national programs, and implement continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives.
  • Establish best practices and identify opportunities to standardize indirect sourcing processes.
  • Lead the development and implementation of reporting tools to track operational KPIs, cost analytics, and performance metrics across indirect spend categories.
  • Ensure a complete understanding of total costs to determine cost drivers, support budget development, and identify savings opportunities.
