About The Position

Join American Conservation Experience (ACE) in Flagstaff, Arizona, for a 300- hour, 450-hour or 900- hour AmeriCorps conservation term. Why Join? Schedule Schedules vary, typically: 8 days on / 6 days off, or 4 days on / 3 days off Remote projects may span multiple cycles, with off-days near the project site. Position Overview Serve on professionally supervised crews completing: Habitat restoration Trail construction and maintenance Reforestation and forest thinning Invasive species removal Fencing and plant identification Members gain experience with hand tools, restoration equipment, and power tools (including chainsaws) while working alongside agency partners such as the National Park Service, the US Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Professional Development Participation in ACE's LEAF (Lead, Educate, and Facilitate) Program is required and includes: A professional meeting with ACE staff Facilitating a conservation lesson Two monthly professional development or community engagement events

Requirements

  • US citizen or permanent resident
  • Willingness to work outdoors in challenging conditions
  • Ability to hike long distances, carry up to 60 lbs., and perform 10-hour work days
  • Pass a criminal history check
