About The Position

Supervise an over up to 5,000 unit Sow Farm and related personnel including day-to-day tasks of the farm, ensuring production targets are met, and supervising farm employees. Ensure the care and conditioning of sows on the farm. Direct the breeding and raising of swine using recognized breeding practices. Supervise swine examinations to identify diseases. Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and facilities are in good working condition. Meet daily and weekly production targets. Collect and record production data. Complete and submit production analysis reports in a timely manner. Submit orders for farm supplies and maintenance needs. Monitor breeding and grading to ensure adherence to safety regulations or standards. Create and manage employee work schedules. Maintain accurate personnel paperwork, including performance evaluations, and provide constructive and timely feedback to employees. Daily supervision of approximately 14 employees. No hire/fire authority.

Requirements

  • Two years of related sow experience.
  • Experience must include at least two years of experience following detailed standard operating procedures.
  • Must have experience in all processes of swine production from gestation through farrowing and have experience training in needle vaccination, piglet treatments, and artificial insemination in swine.
  • Must have experience managing 4 or more animal caretakers for sow farms.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds, and sometimes push and/or move up to 300 pounds.
  • Must be proficient in English reading and writing.
