About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Satellite Systems Engineer with Radio Frequency (RF) communications experience to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) services to a customer within the Intelligence Community (IC) in Chantilly, VA. This customer is responsible for designing, building, and operating experimental spacecraft to demonstrate advanced technologies. Job Description: • Lead technical objective development and decomposition, oversee development contractor’s design, development, integration, and test of communications systems for experimental space systems • Support COMMs systems integration and interface control management • Provide technical advice on Satellite COMM system performance against requirements and specifications • Support systems architecting and engineering activities such as system objectives definition, interface definition, design, interface management, systems integration, performance analysis, and development and refinement of concepts of operation. • Support COMMS system and component verification and validation • Support the integration of secure COMMS capabilities to include hardware cryptographic devices • Make program risk assessments and provide actionable mitigation recommendations to the program manager • Independently collaborate with Government program office representatives, FFRDC, SETA, and contractor personnel • Leads technical requirements development, systems engineering, and oversee development contractor to develop, design, produce, integrate, and test Satellite COMMS systems • Manages required COMMS related approvals and waivers to include spectrum management and others as appropriate • Participate in program readiness and design reviews • Ensure the R&D efforts are planned and conducted on a sound engineering basis including management of technical risks • Support Program acquisition, source selection, and programmatic processes

Requirements

  • Must have bachelor’s degree in engineering (systems, mechanical, electrical or related discipline) with minimum of nine (9) years of relevant work experience or sic (6) years with master’s degree
  • Demonstrated space systems engineering experience
  • Experience providing acquisition support to include working budgets, schedules, contracts (drafting SOWs, CDRLs, RFPs) and supporting source selection efforts
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance with an active poly.

  • Experience supporting varied portfolio projects with dissimilar technical focuses, ideally experience managing R&D projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective technical writing and briefing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and energetic setting
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Experience working at NRO SPO
  • NRO Acquisition experience
