The successful candidate will provide leadership, coordination, and supervision of all special education students requiring services and programming in out of district placements. He/she will be expected to coordinate the special education process He/she is responsible for the following: managing the paper processes and education plans; maintaining timely communication with parents, out of district placements, and outside agencies; monitoring the general performance of special education students within the school; implementing new processes and procedures as dictated by changes in federal special education law; assist in the Medicaid reimbursement process; participate in relevant professional development activities; and making sure that parent concerns and problems are dealt with in a timely, responsive, and proactive manner. He/she is also expected to attend all special education administrators’ meetings. He/she is also responsible for the following: researching alternate placement options for special education students; coordinating the transition of special education students to and from outside placements; ensuring the the preparation and sending of all essential documents for transition; observing special education students in various settings, including those students in out of district placements; implementing procedures for placement, evaluation and re-evaluation of students; assists in the preparation of the out of district budget; completes all necessary documents required for circuit breaker. He/she will assume other duties which may be assigned from time to time by the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services or his/her designee.
