About The Position

Trinity Classical Academy seeks a candidate for a full-time Special Education Teacher Assistant in its Imago Dei School. Qualified candidates will be models in their lives and possess a servant’s heart. They will support the classroom teaching by working with students in whole-class, one-to-one, and small-group settings to facilitate an individualized, modified academic environment. Requirements

  • Prefer a Bachelor’s degree or a candidate seeking a degree in the education field
  • Previous experience working with children with special needs in an academic, church or therapeutic setting
  • Excellent oral and written command of the English language
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, faculty, and students of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be a flexible thinker, able to make sound decisions
  • Positive, energetic, even-tempered team player
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Able to demonstrate a level of comfort with students who display unexpected behaviors toward themselves and others
  • A strong commitment to the emphasis and philosophy of Trinity Classical Academy

  • Multitasking in an environment with many distractions is a must
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation
  • Requires standing for long periods of time
  • Must be able to sit for extended period of time, repetitious hand and body movements, simple grasping, fine and gross motor skills. Stand and walk when administering care. Must be able to bend, squat, kneel, push, pull and lift up to 20 pounds. Must be able to climb one flight of stairs
  • Travel by car will be required for field trips.
  • Travel by bus for class travel training instruction.
  • Travel by foot with students for local Community-Based Instruction
  • Monday – Friday, 7:20 a.m. – 2:55 p.m. or as needed beyond these hours. Training days and parent teacher conferences may be longer workdays.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with special education and Christian worldview integrations is preferred/ a plus
