About The Position

Leidos is seeking a mission‑focused Special Security Officer (SSO) to support Air Combat Command (ACC) Wing SCI security programs at Joint Base Langley–Eustis, VA. In this critical role, you will execute the full spectrum of SCI security functions, ensure compliance across multiple security disciplines, and serve as a trusted advisor on national‑level security directives. You will also help manage and strengthen the installation’s SCI security posture, supporting both local and tenant SCIFs. This is a high‑impact position for a security professional who thrives in an operational environment and is ready to safeguard some of the nation’s most sensitive intelligence missions.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance on Day 1 (required).
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, or Associate’s degree and 6+ years (additional experience may substitute for degree).
  • Minimum 4 years of full‑time SCI security experience across personnel, physical, information, and basic IA disciplines.
  • Ability to operate independently in a dynamic operational environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of: ICD 704 ICD 705 and Technical Specifications DoDM 5105.21 Vol 1–3 DNI, DIA, and USAF security directives
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze information, assess risk, develop mitigation strategies, and solve complex security challenges.
  • SAP experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of formal SSO certification training within the last five years.
  • Completion of a SCIF physical security course within the last five years.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain SCI directives, manuals, and regulatory guidance to ensure full compliance with SSO responsibilities.
  • Oversee proper control, accountability, transmission, transport, packaging, safeguarding, and authorized destruction of SCI materials.
  • Ensure SCI dissemination is limited strictly to personnel with verified access and validated need‑to‑know.
  • Investigate SCI security incidents, prepare required reports, and recommend corrective actions to the Chief SSO.
  • Maintain strong liaison with collateral security officials to ensure seamless coordination across security levels.
  • Conduct SCI personnel, physical, information, and technical security activities, including TEMPEST and TSCM coordination.
  • Deliver required SCI security awareness training and briefings.
  • Execute all aspects of the SCI Personnel Security Program: Nomination interviews Access validation Investigative submissions Briefings and debriefings NDA/NDS processing
  • Serve as the official channel for SCI visitor certification and access verification.
  • Maintain accuracy of personnel records within JPAS.
  • Provide guidance on SCI eligibility and position requirements.
  • Process derogatory information and assist commanders with Security Information Files.
  • Support physical security for current and future SCIFs, ensuring compliance with ICD 705 and all applicable directives.
  • Prepare, update, and maintain SCIF accreditation documentation, including fixed facility checklists.
  • Ensure annual self‑inspections are conducted for all SCIFs under organizational cognizance.
