About The Position

The Specialist - Admissions is responsible for outreach, recruitment, and enrollment into Goodwill Good Careers Academy. The Good Careers Academy (GCA) is an accredited vocational skills training program connecting and training individuals with barriers to employment in high-demand occupations.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or higher
  • Equivalent work experience may be accepted in lieu of education
  • 1-3 years experience in admissions, recruiting, advising, or other related enrollment and/or student service experience preferred
  • Skilled in communicating verbally and writing effectively; skilled in organizing and presenting educational material.
  • Must maintain flexibility regarding work availability and hours to support program needs.
  • Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.

  • Experience in workforce development and community partnerships is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds and models Goodwill's mission, core values, and servant leadership philosophy.
  • Achieve enrollment targets with quality seats filled (students ready for success) and keep the tracker updated.
  • Promote GCA and recruit prospective students at various events, including job and career fairs, information sessions, and other community events.
  • Stay current on GCA offering to provide accurate information and generate interest.
  • Lead open houses and school campus tours.
  • Contact all inquiries of interest that are received through the website, phone calls, emails, and in-person events, promptly.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with prospective students through regular communication, providing accurate and timely information, being helpful, and acting as a coach and guide in their journey to selecting and enrolling into a career training program.
  • Document each inquiry and follow-up activity using the provided system daily.
  • Provide data on identified KPIs.
  • Prescreen prospective students to assess eligibility, evaluate the alignment of training selected with career goals, gauge motivation and identify barriers that could impede successful program completion and employment.
  • Complete a student success plan and engage the GCA Success Coach as appropriate to address immediate needs.
  • Schedule students for testing to meet enrollment requirements such as DOT Medical Card and Drug Test, TB tests, and Meningitis if needed. Students must have these test results before enrollment in the program.
  • Enter Specific Assistance Request in ETO.
  • Facilitate completion and submission of all enrollment documents by the priority deadline.
  • Determine appropriate financial sponsorship for each prospective student.
  • Educate participants on third-party agency requirements and facilitate the co-enrollment process.
  • Lead New Student Orientation sessions.
  • Set up new students in the provided Student Tracking System.
  • Analyze data to find more efficient ways to generate and connect with existing leads.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to refine processes for efficient application and admission of prospective students and to improve enrollment, completion, and job placement outcomes.
  • Collaborate with all GCA staff members to provide a positive student experience at the Academy.
  • Learn other GCA functions and operate as a back-up to other staff members to ensure continuous coverage when gap in staffing occurs.
  • To accommodate business needs and objectives, other duties may be assigned by leadership.
