About The Position

Systems Safety Engineers assure that systems provide acceptable levels of safety and that critical systems perform as needed even when components fail. Engineer will identify and manage risk in order to eliminate or reduce it to acceptable levels. Risk is the combination of the probability of a failure event and the severity resulting from the failure.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or related technical discipline with a minimum of five (5) years relevant experience.
  • The equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience can be considered.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Must be able to pass additional security background checks as required.

  • Human Factors modeling and simulation experience
  • Working knowledge of PTC WindChill (Releyence)
  • Working knowledge of Airworthiness Certification

Responsibilities

  • Establish and execute a MIL-STD-882 safety program that concludes with a comprehensive safety assessment.
  • Understand the concepts of preliminary and system hazard analysis, hazard logs, fault tree analyses, environmental assessment and management, risk assessments and mitigation and occupational health hazard assessments.
  • Translate system requirements into functional requirements
  • Interpret technical drawings
  • Work independently or in a team
  • Available for minimal travel when required
