We are seeking a talented Specialty Pharmacist to join our team in Louisville, KY. Our high-touch specialty pharmacy program focuses on supporting patients with complex medical needs, including behavioral health, mental health, and addiction treatment. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with prescribers, care teams, and patients to ensure safe, effective medication therapy and improved patient outcomes. Requirements

  • 3-5 years' experience in the practice of pharmacy, required
  • Doctorate of Pharmacy Degree from an Accreditation Council of Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited college of pharmacy or Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Examination Committee (FPGEC) Certification and State Licensure in the resident state of the pharmacy, and other states as required.
  • Pharmacist license current and in good standing with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy
  • Maintenance of continuing education requirements
  • Willingness to seek licensure in other States as necessary
  • Comfort and competence administering gluteal, IM, and subcutaneous injections
  • Has sufficient knowledge, training and expertise in pharmacotherapeutics to oversee the pharmacy patient management program
  • Knowledge in counseling patients regarding the clinical benefit and use of their customized medication.
  • Possesses leadership skills and abilities: time management and organizational skills; professionalism; communication skills, both oral and written; ability to prioritize effectively; and ability to delegate effectively

Nice To Haves

  • 2-3 years' experience in pharmacy management, preferred
  • 2-3 years' experience in an accredited Specialty or mail order pharmacy, preferred
  • CSP or BPS, preferred, or willingness to seek certification within first 12 months of employment
  • Experience dispensing medications prescribed for the treatment of addiction, preferred
  • Experience using PioneerRx, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prescription Order Review and Clarification (prior to dispensing)
  • Takes prescription orders over the telephone from prescribers or their agents
  • Verifies source of prescription
  • Works with prescriber's offices for collaboration and clarification on prescriptions orders and patienttherapy
  • Provides clinical advice to the provider team regarding medication treatments
  • Obtains any and all information necessary from Physician to ensure accurate and safe dispensing ofmedications to the patient
  • Resolves prescription discrepancies Prescription Dispensing
  • Verifies prescription validity and appropriateness
  • Verifies correct patient for dispensing, drug, dosage, strength, route of administration, and schedule ortime (directions) and the drug matches the prescription order
  • Includes appropriate manufacturer or other patient education materials with dispensed drugs
  • Obtains insurance authorizations as required
  • Investigates and manages insurance denials as required
  • Completes quality control and DUR check on prescriptions, ensuring adherence to all policies, proceduresand laws
  • Provides patient-specific consultation on all aspects of their medication regimen
  • Administering gluteal, IM, and subcutaneous injections
  • Maintains appropriate records and database entry of prescriptions and patient information
  • Documents patient interventions with adequate detail in both clinical and non-clinical records as appropriate
  • Reports adverse events to the appropriate collector, such as MedWatch or a manufacturer, in a timely manner
  • Maintains and supports URAC and ACHC accreditation requirements and compliance standards
  • Maintains, reviews and assesses patient care plans and discontinuations Builds, reviews and maintains patient care plans, documenting interventions with adequate detail in both clinical and non-clinical records as appropriate Oversight of Pharmacy Safety
  • Maintains accountability for general supervision of the pharmacy staff
  • Provides direct supervision of the processes involved in dispensing and preparing medicines
  • Ensures compliance with FDA mandates and self-imposed manufacturer restrictions on particular drugs, as applicable
  • Enforces all federal, state and local laws and regulations pertaining to drug dispensing and patient privacy, as well as company policies and procedures
  • Remains dependable and maintains levels of confidentiality
  • Oversees Technicians as Necessary
  • Ensures that patient rights are upheld and supports informed decision making by the patient
  • Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships with prescribers
  • Participates in rotating on call schedule
  • All other duties as assigned
