About The Position

Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing specialized educational instruction for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a dedicated center-based program. The primary goal is to foster academic achievement, behavioral skills, social-emotional development, and functional independence for each student. This role involves intensive case management, leading the classroom team, and maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders.

  • Master's Degree: Special Education

Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively develop and implement standards-based Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
  • Administer formal and informal assessments to evaluate academic and functional skill levels, regularly monitoring and tracking student progress to adjust instruction and programming as required.
  • Complete required IEP documentation and progress reports in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Develop, adapt, and implement curriculum and lessons tailored to meet the diverse and individualized needs of students with ASD.
  • Utilize and implement evidence-based practices, such as visual supports and structured teaching methodologies.
  • Provide individualized and small-group instruction across academic, social, communication including assistive technology, and daily living skills.
  • Lead and coordinate the classroom team, providing modeling and coaching to Educational Assistants/paraprofessionals in the implementation of strategies and data collection practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with related service providers (e.g., SLPs, OTs, BCBAs) and general education teachers to ensure a comprehensive, integrated team approach.24
  • Maintain professional and respectful communication with parents and caregivers, providing regular updates on progress and offering support.
  • Create and maintain a structured, positive, and sensory-friendly learning environment with predictable routines.
  • Manage student behavior, implementing positive behavior support plans and Center Based Teacher- Autism Program Teacher proactive strategies to address challenging behaviors and provide a safe learning environment.
  • Implement self-regulation strategies and facilitate functional and alternative communication for students.
