Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals with speech and language disorders, preferably with autism.
  • Valid, unsuspended driver’s license
  • Eden School requirements: NJ DOE Speech Language Specialist Certification preferred
  • Applicants may complete Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) during employment.
  • Adult Services requirements: Licensed by the state of New Jersey
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
  • Physical Abilities Lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, stretch, stoop, and/or reach above shoulder level for extended periods of time.
  • Pass and maintain Professional Crisis Management (PCM) certification, including implementation of all strategies and techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate speech and language needs to enhance communication skills through each individual’s primary mode including verbal language, sign language, pictures or an augmentative device.
  • Participate in the development of IEPs and ISPs.
  • Define and implement program objectives for each individual through development of short- and long-term goals.
  • Evaluate progress using data collection, standardized and informal assessments.
  • Manage maladaptive behaviors including tantrums, self-injury, and aggression.
  • Implement behavior support and education programs as defined in each individual’s IEP/ISP.
  • Work with Behavior Analysts and support staff to develop appropriate alternate teaching programs for students.
  • Assist with training staff on how to most effectively integrate speech programs into each individual’s daily routine.
  • Maintain weekly communication with parents concerning progress and recommendations for home maintenance.
  • Quarterly progress reports
  • Develop and maintain IEP/ISP goals and objectives.
