THE IMPACT YOU CAN HAVE: Ulta Beauty has built a diverse ecosystem of data – with the crown jewel being a rich customer dataset with over 44 million active members in our Ulta Beauty Rewards loyalty program. We also have a mature data pipeline that captures many other business critical data signals and makes them available for analytics-driven insights generation and action. The Senior Analyst, Strategic Analytics is responsible for measuring and optimizing the performance of personalization initiatives across digital and marketing channels. This role partners with Marketing, Product and Digital leaders to design experiments, quantify incremental impact of Personalized activations, and translate complex datasets into actionable insights that influence strategic decisions.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in Business Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science or related analytical degree or experience (Master’s preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in experimentation, digital analytics, or customer behavior analytics (internship/project experience considered for early-career candidates)
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with A/B Testing Tools – Adobe Target preferred
  • Experience with Adobe Analytics and/or Customer Journey Analytics
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills - must be able to communicate complex ideas in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Capable of working in a dynamic environment, handling multiple projects, meeting deadlines, prioritizing appropriately and responding to issues quickly and creatively with an open and positive attitude.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Energetic and self-motivated - must be extremely organized and detail oriented with an ability to make proactive recommendations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Python or R a plus
  • Experience in retail or CPG industry a plus
  • Experience with data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau or PowerBI) a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze A/B and multivariate Personalization experiments using Adobe Target, ensuring statistical validity and clear business interpretation, providing recommendations on test design as needed
  • Partner closely with Marketing Personalization & Digital teams to uncover insights and recommend testing opportunities and optimizations to customer journeys
  • Partner closely with Data Science Teams to recommend new advanced analytics models that could be used to reach Personalized audiences
  • Analyze customer journeys in Adobe Journey Optimizer and Adobe Customer Journey Analytics to measure incremental performance and engagement lift
  • Query and manipulate large-scale structured datasets using SQL & Python within a big data environment (Google Cloud Platform)
  • Develop automated dashboards and reporting solutions in PowerBI and Customer Journey Analytics to enable self-service performance monitoring and insight gathering
  • Work with internal partners to assess business needs and transform them into meaningful observations by selecting optimal analytic technique(s) depending on the nature of the business problem
  • Prepare and present results to various teams within the organization in an audience specific language with a focus toward action-oriented decision-making
  • Continually look for ways to improve analysis processes and deliverables
  • Develop a strong partnership and collaborate with Ulta Beauty business partners, performing as a team member who consults on how to attain the business goals by leveraging customer data and insights
  • Improve analysis workflows, documentation, and test-and-learn knowledge repositories
