As a Sr. Camp Counselor, you’ll help create a safe, engaging, and memorable camp experience by supporting daily activities and guiding children as they grow, build confidence, and form friendships. This hands-on role is perfect for enthusiastic, responsible individuals who love working with kids, enjoy being active, and want to be part of a positive, mission-driven team—all while spending your summer outdoors and making lifelong memories. POSITION SUMMARY: Assist with YMCA Day Camp at Camp Tracy program activities as well as guiding/helping the children adjust and grow within the program guidelines.

Requirements

  • 17-years-old or older
  • A clean driver’s license is preferred
  • Two prior years working experiences with children
  • Skills that are necessary to work with groups of children made up of different ages and skill levels
  • Skills or training in problem solving
  • Team player
  • Display role model behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a group of children, helping each child adjust and grow with other children within the program guidelines.
  • Plan and implement daily curriculum for children to follow.
  • Assist with all camp activities and other activities.
  • Comply with and participate fully in the instruction of swimming, arts and crafts, games, various camp activities, and education programs.
  • Communicate and work with all groups participating (age and skill level) and provide necessary instruction to children.
  • Observe camper behavior and assess its appropriateness, enforce relevant safety regulations or emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques.
  • Maintains safety, cleanliness, and discipline of children, areas, and equipment.
