We are looking for a Sr. Control Systems Engineer to join our Petrochemicals (CP) team in Freeport, TX. Requirements

  • Have a bachelor's degree in Computer, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or related engineering majors.
  • Possess 7+ years of experience with control systems, automation, and instrumentation including DCS and/or PLC programming (Foxboro DCS, Triconex, Allen-Bradley PLC preferred).
  • Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, along with a keen attention to detail.
  • Are prepared to respond to critical after-hours events that may impact EHS or production.

Responsibilities

  • Leading configuration, preventive maintenance, hardware/software support, and overall administration of all control systems within the Acrylic Acid units, this includes programming HMI, DCS and (Safety) PLCs using function block diagrams, ladder logic, and sequential function charts.
  • Supporting daily operations by troubleshooting, tuning, and optimizing PID control loops, including leading root cause failure analyses and implementing corrective actions for control system issues.
  • Supporting capital and maintenance projects involving control system interfaces through the design, implementation, and commissioning phases, including serving as the Manufacturing Representative or MOC Coordinator for selected projects
  • Developing long-term control system lifecycle plans for the unit in alignment with the Operations and Asset Management teams. In line with this you will maintain detailed logic drawings and system configuration to support troubleshooting, audits, and lifecycle planning.
  • Tracking total cost of ownership for control systems by monitoring failures, tracking maintenance contracts, optimizing software upgrades, and coordinating with vendors.
  • Participating in peer groups with other Control Systems Engineers, Instrument & Electrical Maintenance Engineers, Technologists and Technicians to drive standardization of control systems across the Freeport site and within the unit.
