  • Deep expertise in U.S. federal, state, and international direct tax compliance principles.
  • At least 2 years operating as a manager or senior manager for the direct tax or provision function in a global organization (SaaS/technology industry experience is a major plus).
  • Experience managing the performance, deliverables, and budgets of external tax consultants and advisors.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with a proven ability to lead complex initiatives between tax, finance, and operations teams.
  • A proactive, "builder" mindset with a talent for creating, documenting, and scaling processes from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Direct Tax Compliance: You will oversee and manage the end-to-end direct tax compliance process for all federal and state jurisdictions, and oversee the global compliance calendar for international corporate income tax returns. This involves closely managing external tax advisors, ensuring all filings are accurate, and handling all estimated payments and extensions.
  • Tax Provision & Reporting (ASC 740): You will lead the preparation, review, and documentation of the company's annual and quarterly global tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740. This includes managing effective tax rate calculations, deferred tax assets/liabilities, valuation allowances, and uncertain tax positions.
  • Risk Management & Audit Defense: You will proactively identify, analyze, and quantify areas of direct tax risk. You will manage and defend all federal, state, and international income tax audits, responding to notices and developing remediation strategies based on materiality.
  • Process Improvement & Tax Technology: You will critically evaluate and optimize current tax provision and compliance processes. You'll lead the implementation of new tax technologies, automation tools, and streamlined workflows to reduce reporting timelines and improve accuracy.
  • Cross-Functional Strategy: You will partner closely with the Tax Director and the broader finance, accounting, and legal teams to assist with tax structuring advice on international expansion, M&A activities, transfer pricing, and new business initiatives.
