About The Position

The Sr. Cyber Range Engineer for the Persistent Cyber Training Environment Operations Group (PCTE-OG) will provide subject matter expertise for cyber range design, implementation, validation, and execution. The candidate will provide deep technical expertise across a broad spectrum of IT and cybersecurity products, tools, architectures, and implementations, with the ability to use that expertise to design and implement cyber ranges. Also, the candidate must support individual training, large scale collective training and operational mission rehearsal requirements for the Cyber Mission Force teams located at Fort Gordon. The candidate will work closely with customer and third-party organizations and must be able to respond to ad-hoc technical requirements while synchronizing priorities across the enterprise. The candidate must thrive in high pressure situations. This position is located onsite at Fort Gordon (Augusta, GA).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as information technology, computer science, systems or software engineering from an accredited college or university.
  • 8+ years of combined experience with Computer Network Operations (CNO)/ Computer Network Exploitation (CNE)/ Computer Network Defense (CND) platforms, cyber training, validation exercises, and working with cyber protection teams (CPTs), including planning, coordinating, and execution.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate), VMware VCP-Cloud, or other similar and relevant certifications.
  • Active certifications in Red Hat, Linux, VMware, and/or Windows (install, configure, maintain and administer)
  • Active and relevant network engineering certification such as JNCP, CCNA, Palo Alto, CCNA Cyber Ops, or others
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II or greater certification such as Security+, CCNA, CISSP or other equivalent certification.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Joint Events Life Cycle (JELC)
  • Intermediate knowledge of defensive and offensive cyber tools
  • Relevant experience and certifications in network engineer to include: JNCP, CCNA, Palo Alto, CCNA Cyber Ops, or others
  • Experience and certifications in Microsoft/Windows, Active Directory, Security Onion, and VMWare
  • Experience and certifications in of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Ability to translate cyber mission force training and mission rehearsal goals into actionable event environments.
  • Must be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment and able to work with a range of engineers holding a diverse set of skills at differing levels of experience.
  • Effective written and oral communication with multiple levels of leadership involving both business and technical sides of the business.
  • Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires U. S. Citizenship status and a TS SCI security clearance.
  • Security Clearance requirements will be specified in the Government's Task Order.

Nice To Haves

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of DNS: Authoritative vs. Recursive servers, SOA, NS, MX, A, and CNAME records
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of routing: OSPF static, BGP, route maps, access lists, prefix lists, advertise maps, and route weights.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of exchange: Edge servers, recipient e-mail addressing, mailboxes, auto-configuration for Exchange clients.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Security Onion or SPLUNK: interface requirements, scalability landmines, Enterprise configurations (sensor and master).
  • VMWare port properties and how they are tied to sensor ports and promiscuous modes.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands.
  • Interact with vendors/users/customers and developers to understand needs and operational requirements changes that will impact the production environment.
  • Ability to solve technical problems involving a variety of integrated software and hardware platforms.
  • Have a basic understanding of Cyber Mission Force team structures and Defensive and Offensive Cyber Operations.
