About The Position

The Corporate Property team is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to help drive the development of data products that unlock insights and enable advanced analytics across the W. R. Berkley enterprise. We serve as strategic consultants to our business partners, helping them leverage data to inform decisions, optimize processes, and generate measurable business value. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders across underwriting, marketing, claims, technology, actuarial, and operations—strengthening our partners’ ability to use data effectively and advancing our team’s mission to deliver impactful analytics.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a data analyst, financial analyst, operations analyst, or in a similar analytical or data‑focused role.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, data validation, and investigating data across multiple systems.
  • Hands‑on experience working with insurance data (policies, coverages, risks, premiums, limits, deductibles) and navigating insurance source systems.
  • Proven ability to structure, execute, and present data findings and solution recommendations.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize technical details into insights for non‑technical business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries and build productive relationships with business and technical partners.
  • Highly curious, with a discovery mindset and a desire to understand data behavior, edge cases, and business context.
  • Detail‑oriented and accurate, with a track record of producing high‑quality work and validating results thoroughly.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and driven—able to work independently, meet commitments, and follow through on complex tasks.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, working backward from business goals to define a clear plan of action.
  • Stakeholder‑engagement experience, including gathering requirements, reviewing findings, and supporting decision‑making.
  • Proficiency with SQL, Excel, PowerPoint, and at least one data visualization tool (Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in project‑based or product‑focused roles is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Databricks).

  • Design end‑to‑end data product solutions, including data flows, transformation logic, and usage scenarios.
  • Produce high-quality documentation such as requirements, data dictionaries, and process flows for both business and technical audiences.
  • Support development teams by providing context, clarifying requirements, and ensuring alignment throughout build cycles.
  • Lead user acceptance testing (UAT) by defining test cases, coordinating stakeholders, and validating system outputs.
  • Troubleshoot defects and work with technical teams to resolve issues during development and testing phases.
  • Prepare stakeholders for product rollout by supporting launch planning, onboarding, and communication.
