Candidates based in the Dallas–Fort Worth (DFW) area will be hired in a hybrid capacity and are expected to work onsite at our Las Colinas office a minimum of two (2) days per week, with the remaining days worked remotely. Specific in ‑ office days may be designated based on team needs and business priorities. Current Need: The Sr. Data Product Manager role supports the hands-on execution of McKesson’s enterprise innovation strategy by managing the day-to-day operations of innovation projects and programs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Innovation, t his role is responsi ble for coordinati ng cross-functional teams, tracking project milestones, and ensuring timely deli very o f pilots, proof of concepts, and minimum via ble pro d ucts – specifically healthcare data products . This role plays a critical part in operationalizing innovation efforts while also serving as a critical bridge between product intent and technical execution, ensuring data requirements, data flows, and MVP designs are well-defined and validated p rior to b uild. The position requires strong organizational skills, stakeholder engagement, and a working knowledge of innovation frameworks and digital tools.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in product, data strategy, innovation, or engineering roles.
  • Experience leading 0-to-1 cross-functional product development with multiple stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with digital product development and Agile delivery practices.
  • Strategic thinking — Ability to define multi-year vision for data architecture and anticipate future needs.
  • Problem decomposition — Break down ambiguous problems into structured, actionable technical requirements.
  • Business acumen — Understand how data decisions impact customer value and business outcomes; prioritize based on impact.
  • Requirements translation — Convert business needs into clear data model specifications.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and drive clarity in fast-paced environments.
  • Working knowledge of innovation tools and frameworks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL experience, with Python knowledge being a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and a passion for problem-solving, with a history of delivering customer-facing data solutions

  • Exposure to healthcare or regulated industries preferred.
  • Experience with BI platforms (e.g. Power BI, Looker, Tableau, Hex)

Responsibilities

  • Innovation Product Building & Management
  • AI-first tactical execution of 0-to-1 digital products initiatives from concept through pilot and MVP delivery.
  • Develop and maintain detailed good data practices and documentation in compliance with HIPAA, GDPR, etc. data requirements.
  • Track progress against milestones and proactively identify and communicate risks or delays.
  • Ensure documentation and reporting of project outcomes and learnings.
  • SQL expertise — Strong ability to write complex queries, investigate data quality issues, and understand query performance.
  • Data modeling — Deep understanding of dimensional modeling, normalization techniques, and schema design for analytics.
  • Data warehouse knowledge — Working experience with modern data platforms (specifically Databricks). Exposure to data quality monitoring, schema evolution, or data testing frameworks
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and opportunities that could be turned into valuable, monetized products.
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to define data requirements that support product development.
  • Define and document end to end data flows for MVPs, including data sources, transformations, and dependencies.
  • Collaborate with product managers to define, run, and analyze experiments within Databricks ensuring methodological rigor and actionable results.
  • Effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical teams, translating complex data into understandable and actionable stories.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Facilitate collaboration across product, strategy, operations, analytics, and engineering teams.
  • Schedule and lead working sessions, stand-ups, and stakeholder updates.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for assigned innovation projects.
  • Ensure alignment between business needs and technical feasibility.
  • Help build business cases justifying investments in and returns from individual innovation initiatives.
  • Innovation Process & Methodology
  • Requirements translation — Convert business needs into clear data model specifications, ensuring shared understanding across product, engineering, and analytics teams.
  • Use the appropriate AI-powered tech stack and features to maximize efficiency and accelerate the path to identifying product-market fit.
  • Apply structured innovation frameworks such as design thinking, lean startup, and agile delivery
  • Facilitate working sessions to align on data flows, interfaces, and handoffs during discovery and MVP planning
  • Comfort with ambiguity — Thrive in situations where ownership boundaries aren't perfectly clear.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Prepare and deliver clear communications to internal stakeholders regarding project status, outcomes, and next steps.
  • Support the development of business cases and presentation materials for leadership reviews.
  • Coordinate feedback loops with business units, customers, and partners to refine concepts.
  • Market & Customer Insight Integration
  • Be customer-obsessed – deeply understand the healthcare workflow that’s the focus of the business objective / hypothesis.
  • Understand the end-to-end customer journey map and how data changes across each step / stage.
