Making an impact on a global scale For over 30 years, Gilead has been a leading innovator in treatments and/or prevention for HIV, viral hepatitis, and/or COVID19. Despite advances, these and other viruses continue to have significant impact on people and patients globally. In this role, you will have responsibility for delivering commercial support and feedback into development of pipeline assets across HIV and other emerging viruses, as well as leading early commercialization activities for our drugs. Through work to design product profiles and build business cases, you will represent the market and commercial voice into Gilead’s pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Early Commercialization Teams: Develop aligned commercial perspectives and act as the commercial voice and support Program Strategy Teams from pre-clinical stage to phase III initiation.
  • Facilitate transition to inline teams for launch preparedness as programs enter late-stage development, with potential to directly lead transitions and launch planning in the future.
  • Evaluate Commercial Opportunities: Develop business cases for pre-clinical assets under development.
  • Establish strong partnerships with R&D to ensure plans deliver differentiated products and commercial value.
  • Support Progression of R&D Programs: Understand disease states, unmet need, and treatment landscapes to define target product profiles and recommend strategic options to maximize program value and benefit for patients.
  • Lead Early Commercialization Work: For pipeline programs, potentially including communications strategy, co-positioning, branding, naming, packaging, development of support services, etc.
  • Establish Partnerships with Cross-functional Teams: Collaborate with Global Value & Access, Global Decision Sciences & Insights, Medical Affairs, and selected country teams to identify insights, share global perspectives, and integrate into global strategies.
  • Liaise with regional leadership on strategic choices.
  • Benchmark for Success: Ensure the successful development of differentiated molecules that maximize overall commercial value and patient reach.

Requirements

  • At least 12 years of relevant leadership experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, including strategic planning and lifecycle brand management.
  • Substantial HIV/Virology or Product Development Experience.
  • Understanding of the development process and its relevant inputs, with the ability to interpret how early research and development decisions may impact the final product profile.
  • Strong experience in commercial evaluation of partnership and pipeline opportunities.
  • An opportunistic thinker with strong judgment and an analytical mindset.
  • Ability to develop deep and credible collaborations with partners in Medical Affairs, Research, Development, Value & Access, and Regulatory groups, as well as senior leadership.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully with varied audiences and executives.
  • Strong analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to identify and interpret complex issues and provide recommendations to senior management and across functional areas.
  • B.A. or B.S. required, MBA and/or advanced degree in life sciences or medicine preferred.
