About The Position

The Sr. Director, Global Demand Planning is a strategic enterprise leader responsible for developing, governing, and executing best‑in‑class global demand planning processes that reliably supply life‑changing therapies to patients worldwide. This role oversees global demand forecasting, statistical modeling, consensus building, demand/supply integration, and influences the inventory strategy across all commercial and selected clinical programs. The Sr. Director plays a pivotal leadership role within the Integrated Business Planning (IBP) framework, ensuring demand plans seamlessly inform supply, financial, and strategic planning. The ideal candidate brings deep biopharmaceutical experience, sophisticated analytical capabilities, and proven leadership in driving digital and process transformation across complex globais networks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Life Sciences, Business, or related field required; Master’s degree or MBA strongly preferred.
  • 10–15+ years of progressive experience in demand planning, forecasting, or global planning roles within biopharmaceuticals or life sciences. Experience in rare disease companies is a plus.
  • Significant experience in IBP/S&OP processes and cross‑functional planning leadership.
  • Proven experience with ERP and advanced planning tools (SAP IBP, SAP ERP, Kinaxis, O9, OMP, Anaplan or similar).
  • APICS/ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams (4–10+ people) and developing high‑performing talent.
  • Experience supporting or leading digital transformation initiatives in planning functions is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, executive presence, and the capacity to influence within a global matrix environment by fostering executive-level consensus.
  • Deep expertise in end‑to‑end biopharma supply chain planning, including rare disease or specialty product dynamics.
  • Highly analytical with mastery of statistical forecasting, digital tools, and scenario modeling.
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to convey complex insights to senior leaders.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic mindset, and comfort with ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated track record in process governance, standardization, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Own the global demand planning process across all time horizons (IBP and Long-Range Plan), ensuring stable, reliable, and high‑quality demand signals for supply, manufacturing, and financial planning.
  • Support development of accurate country, regional, and global forecasts using advanced statistical and machine‑learning methods in close partnership with the Commercial and FP&A teams.
  • Ensure alignment of demand plans with Commercial, Finance, Supply Chain, and regional partners through a disciplined consensus process.
  • Manage demand planning for both commercial portfolio and select clinical/early‑access requirements where necessary.
  • Establish and maintain optimal inventory strategies including safety stock, buffers, and segmentation to balance service levels, cost, and supply risk.
  • Champion the effective use of ERP and advanced planning tools (SAP IBP, Kinaxis, Blue Yonder, O9, OMP, Anaplan) to enable real‑time visibility and agility.
  • Design and deliver a multi‑year global demand planning strategy and digital roadmap aligned with enterprise transformation goals.
  • Deploy advanced predictive analytics, scenario planning, and “what‑if” modeling to support business decisions and risk mitigation, enabling agile response strategies in close collaboration with senior leadership.
  • Build a metric-driven culture by developing, tracking, and governing KPIs such as forecast accuracy, bias, service levels, inventory turns, and demand variability.
  • Continuously improve processes using Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and digital automation methodologies, championing innovation and standardization.
  • Lead the demand step of the IBP cycle and serve as a key leader in global S&OP forums.
  • Ensure demand plans connect seamlessly into supply, capacity, financial, and strategic planning cycles.
  • Drive maturity of the IBP process, partnering cross‑functionally to improve accountability, transparency, and decision‑making across the end‑to-end planning landscape.
  • Partner with Commercial, Business Units, Regional Supply Chain, Finance, Clinical, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory to ensure full alignment on assumptions, trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provide clear communication of forecast changes and drivers to senior stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Act as a thought leader on rare‑disease/low‑volume forecasting complexities, digital enablement, and demand‑driven supply strategies.
  • Lead key enterprise initiatives focused on planning transformation, system implementation, and organizational capability building.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a global team of demand planners and analysts, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Define organizational roles, competencies, and development pathways for demand planning excellence.
  • Build a highly collaborative team environment that thrives in a global matrix structure.
