About The Position

Senior Director, Global Security Reporting to the Chief Global Ethics & Compliance Officer who oversees Enterprise Risk Management, the Sr. Director, Global Security is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the global security strategy and operations of the company, including security of people, assets and operations, against internal and external threats. The Sr. Director, Global Security will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders in leading the delivery of an effective, resilient and efficient security service in a complex global environment. The Sr. Director, Global Security advises executive leadership on security-related matters, including executive protection, and fosters a culture of security preparedness, risk mitigation and response to security threats across the organization.

  • Proficiency across technical, procedural and physical security risk management.
  • Practical experience in dealing with major investigations, incidents or crises.
  • Practical experience in leading, setting and operating executive protection programs.
  • Familiarity with civil, criminal and employment law as well as global requirements for data protection, cybersecurity and privacy.
  • Broad experience applying risk management principles along with strong business acumen; problem solver.
  • Extensive experience in operating across different geographies and jurisdictions.
  • Graduate or university degree in security management, criminal justice, business or similar.
  • Background in intelligence or law enforcement with corporate experience.
  • Minimum 15 years’ relevant experience required, with successful track record in managing security for a global organization.
  • Board Certification in Security Management Certified Protection Professional (CPP).
  • Active membership in at least two International Security industry associations (ISMA/ASIS/IACP/ATAP/DSAC/OSAC).
  • U.S. government active security clearance or ability to obtain.
  • Chicago HQ based, able to travel internationally.
  • Fluency in English, and preferably an additional language.

  • Senior Executive Service (SES) or equivalent membership preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute and monitor a comprehensive global security strategy aligned with MDLZ vision and goals.
  • Lead a global security team and ensure the consistent and effective delivery of security services and operations globally.
  • Lead and oversee the implementation of security measures to protect people, assets, and operations worldwide, including physical security & security systems, compliance with government regulatory programs, threat management (global security risk & threat analysis, security operations center, mass notification and security awareness), insider threats, such as workplace violence prevention and intervention.
  • Set and implement the executive protection program through continuous risk assessment & action plans & processes in line with evolving risk environment.
  • Collaborate with MDLZ senior leaders (global, regional, BU) to ensure security priorities are integrated into business operations and decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement of security operations, processes and activities.
  • Promote a security-conscious culture within the organization, including regular briefings to key stakeholders on security risks, incidents, and opportunities.
  • Oversee major security investigations or significant incidents.
  • Develop and manage the security budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and efficiently to achieve security objectives.
  • Oversee travel security protocols for employees, including threat assessments, travel alerts, and travel risk mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and ensure that global security standards, policies and protocols are regularly monitored, reviewed and updated.
