About The Position

BASCOM HUNTER’S POWER & CONTROLS GROUP IS SEEKING A SENIOR ELECTRICAL ENGINEER TO LEAD THE ARCHITECTURE, DEVELOPMENT, INTEGRATION, AND VALIDATION OF AEROSPACE-GRADE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS FOR DEFENSE APPLICATIONS. THIS ROLE FOCUSES ON SYSTEM-LEVEL ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING FOR ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL SYSTEMS (ECS), MOTOR DRIVES, ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNITS (ECUS), POWER DISTRIBUTION ARCHITECTURES, AND AIRCRAFT INTERCONNECT SYSTEMS. THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL SERVE AS A SENIOR TECHNICAL CONTRIBUTOR RESPONSIBLE FOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DEFINITION, REQUIREMENTS ALLOCATION, INTERFACE CONTROL, COMPLIANCE STRATEGY, AND SYSTEM INTEGRATION FROM EARLY CONCEPT THROUGH QUALIFICATION AND PRODUCTION.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electrical system design.
  • Experience with high-voltage DC systems (28VDC / 270VDC preferred).
  • Experience with power conversion or motor drive architectures.
  • Experience with system-level integration and EMI compliance strategy.
  • Experience with electrical interconnect / EWIS architecture.
  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-704 compliance.
  • Experience with FPGA- or microcontroller-based control architectures.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB / Simulink.
  • Experience supporting qualification and environmental testing.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical.
  • Experience with Altium Designer.
  • Experience using LabVIEW for automated test development or data acquisition.
  • Prior technical leadership or mentoring experience.

Responsibilities

  • Execute electrical system development activities across the full product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure proper system-level integration.
  • Support program schedules and technical milestones.
  • Conduct technical trade studies and risk assessments.
  • Interface with suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Support internal and customer design reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR).
  • Define and own electrical system architecture for 28VDC and 270VDC aircraft power domains.
  • Translate system-level requirements into electrical subsystem requirements with full traceability.
  • Develop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
  • Perform system-level trade studies evaluating topology, redundancy, SWaP, and reliability.
  • Allocate performance requirements and verify compliance.
  • Define electrical protection philosophy and fault management strategies.
  • Lead worst-case and margin analysis including voltage variation and altitude derating.
  • Define and own EWIS architecture including harness topology, signal segregation, and shielding strategy.
  • Allocate wire sizing, voltage drop limits, connector selection, and creepage/clearance strategy.
  • Ensure compliance with AS50881 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
  • Develop grounding, bonding, and shielding architecture supporting MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, and DO-160.
  • Review and approve harness schematics and installation drawings.
  • Support verification planning and qualification matrices.
  • Participate in FMEA/FMECA and reliability assessments.
  • Serve as technical authority during integration and troubleshooting.
  • Generate system architecture documents, ICDs, traceability matrices, and test plans.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable aerospace and defense standards.
  • Participate in formal design reviews.
  • Support configuration control and engineering change processes.
  • Support prototype builds and transition to production.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and interconnect issues during integration and system test.
  • Support environmental and EMI/EMC validation testing.
  • Contribute to root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
