About The Position

The Sr. Engineering Manager (SEM), Network Security is responsible for a managing a team of experienced firewall, VPN, and SSE/proxy engineers that is accountable for building, managing and operating innovative and highly critical network edge security capabilities. Success in this role will require strong and innovative approaches problem solving, a servant leader mindset, great technical leadership, a passion for process improvement, excellent communication (written and verbal, formal and informal), flexibility, accountability and a self-motivated working style with attention to detail. As the Sr. Engineering Manager, Network Security you will: Manage, support, and develop a team of experienced security and infrastructure engineers, providing leadership, coaching, and change guidance Lead and coach daily technical decision making, balancing benefits and progress toward objectives against operational and security risks Lead rapid response and resolution to platform incidents and problems, from enterprise-level visibility restoration calls to ensuring SLAs are met Plan and drive direction of critical security and infrastructure platforms in alignment with Target architecture and enterprise direction Continuously review, improve, and automate operational and build processes to ensure availability, security, and efficiency of the team and their platforms Establish good stakeholder communication and work closely with partner teams and influence capability roadmaps, helping to drive requirements for internal and cross-team projects and improve stakeholder experiences with our capabilities Ensure clear metrics, measures, monitoring and observability of platforms Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Requirements

  • 4 year degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of firewall, VPN, or proxy specific experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing technology engineering & operations teams
  • 7+ years of overall technology infrastructure or security experience
  • Strong track record of operations process improvement and automation
  • Experience in high visibility critical incident response and restoration
  • Experience with Request, Incident, Problem, Change, and Knowledge Management ITIL disciplines
  • Experience with product lifecycle management (patch, update, replace) and technical debt reduction for high criticality technology systems
  • Strong and informed point of view on key metrics, performance measures, and security goals for firewall, VPN, and/or proxy systems
  • Experience in monitoring and observability improvement efforts for infrastructure and information security systems
  • History of building cross-team partnerships
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to variety of audiences
  • Team-oriented, passionate about developing others’ skills and capabilities
  • Successful track record of working in large enterprise technology ecosystems leading complex technology teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning preferred
  • Experience with endpoint systems engineering preferred
  • Understanding of and experience with kanban and related agile planning processes preferred
