About The Position

Provide project engineering support and direction to manufacturing facilities in regard to capital projects, optimizing current operations, reducing cost, introducing new products and meeting government and customer requirements. Implement construction projects as needed throughout the Company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, PE preferred, with a minimum of 10 years experience in a food manufacturing operation including experience in project management, CAD, mechanical/civil and electrical engineering.
  • Firm knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and Government regulations as they apply to a food manufacturing operation (OSHA, EPA, FDA, USDA, GMP).
  • Must be skilled in problem solving and process deveopment.
  • Must have strong management skills in regard to coordinating the efforts of plant personnel and outside contractors.
  • Daily working knowledge of AutoCAD, Word and Excel required. Knowledge of JD Edwards a plus.
  • Ability to manage projects involving multiple contractors from conception to start-up.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Knowledge of packaging and processing automation.
  • Ability to handle multiple duties and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong team and personal leadership skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization using written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, refrigeration, hydraulic, and boiler systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in the oils, spreads and dressing industry a plus.
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Development, Design and management of capital projects including equipment and facility upgrades, capacity expansions and distribution expansions. Obtain and evaluate proposals for capital equipment purchases and mechanical, electrical and civil work.
  • Preparation of Requests for Quotation (RFQ), Engineering bid specifications, project success criteria, P&ID and PFD to include development of project scope, specifications, justification, detailed cost estimate and project savings calculations.
  • Coordinate and direct facility construction and installation of equipment and services with suppliers, contractors and production and maintenance personnel
  • Work with Operations Managers, PMO, R&D, Customer Service and Sales Personnel in developing new processes and methods and cost estimates for the introduction of new products.
  • Work with Maintenance Managers in solving complex problems and improving maintenance methods and cost.
  • Audit Operations and assist in the preparation and maintenance of documentation and training needed to keep plants in compliance with all regulatory agency requirements.
  • Kep abreast of new technology in packaing, processing and automation to maintain an advantage over competitors and a position as a low cost quality producer.
  • Other duties as assigned.
