About The Position

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Sr Engineering Technician Specialist to join our growing team.  External Job Description  American Building Supply (ABS), a subsidiary of Jeld Wen, and one of the Nation’s largest wholesale suppliers of Doors, Door Hardware, Windows, and Millwork, currently has positions available for a Sr. Programmer to create CNC Router programs, and CAD drawings.  The successful candidate will also be someone with strong attention to detail and willingness to tackle challenges outside of the daily processes. Headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, JELD-WEN designs, produces and distributes an extensive range of interior and exterior doors, wood, vinyl and aluminum windows.   General description of duties: Accurately estimate job costs. To develop this skill working with management Ability to manage simple projects and participate in brainstorming sessions and design reviews. Track hours used on a project versus the estimated hours and provide feedback. Communicate drafting and design issues with the Plant Manager Interface with material suppliers as needed. Analyze requirement and develop a conceptual design. Marginal supervision of machine fabrication personnel. Maintain a sense of urgency/responsibility on a daily basis with all projects. Ability to learn plant level processes Create and maintain CNC router programs for product lines in Millennium, Aluminum Frames, and American Series Molded Core Create and maintain machining templates for KVAL machinery Support production areas with the aim of resolving assembly and manufacturability issues.   Confer with shop floor and support functions to assist in resolving manufacturing problems using lean and six sigma methodologies.   Observe and analyze current methods/processes to make recommendations in areas of improvement to bring about work simplification and standardization, quality improvement, and cost reduction.   Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.   Assist with training group managers and hourly associates on new manufacturing processes.   Incorporate Lean Six Sigma and SQDCI methodologies into programs and projects.

Requirements

  • Experience in CNC operations, and Machining
  • Experience with Autocad or other CAD platforms
  • Exposure to CNC machinery either in wood working or aluminum applications
  • Experience with CNC programming tools such as Alphacam, Kval, or Fomcam
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Commitment to educating themselves in unfamiliar areas relevant to their responsibilities
