About the position

Lead long range planning for the structure/interaction between the business strategy, organization, and business, application, data and technical architectures. This role will specifically have a focus and understanding of Commercial domain. As a Snr. Enterprise Architect-Commercial, this position is focused on long-term architecture and strategy for at the enterprise level. Daily activities will include engagement with business and IT architects to determine impact assessment, decompose and analyze strategic initiatives. You will be a leader in enterprise architecture, inform the development of cross-functional, multi-platform systems, engage with enterprise, portfolio and solution architects across FedEx and mentor other architects. Additionally, this position works closely with and engages business and technical stakeholders at all levels of the FedEx Enterprise to translate FedEx business strategy and initiatives into actionable strategic roadmaps. The Senior Enterprise Architect - Commercial will work with stakeholders and architects to identify and define enterprise capabilities, create conceptual architecture, build out a long-term roadmap, and create durable and initiative-based architectural artifacts for the consumption of the teams to execute with a business value driven approach. This will require understanding of the impact and influence of broader industry trends on the strategic business vision to recommend action plans for our global operations and to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead FedEx's most critical strategic initiatives to turn Enterprise strategy into actionable work through decomposition.
  • Lead strategic consultation efforts for leadership by identifying paths forward for complex problems and providing decision support.
  • Be a thought leader in the Commercial space, guiding strategy.
  • Understanding business problems, engaging with business users and communicating how work is driving impact to business.
  • Document architecture decisions and broker alignment across stakeholders.
  • Align designs to preferred future state styles, patterns, frameworks, tooling, and platforms.
  • Contribute to a domain's preferred future state (baseline and target architectures, vision, principles, guidelines, roadmaps, application transition plans).
  • Provide governance and oversight across initiatives to ensure that architectural designs are in alignment with the preferred future state.
  • Review, triage, and classify Enterprise demand.
  • Coach the development of Enterprise, Domain, and Solution Architects.

Requirements

  • Understanding of digital and data-driven capabilities.
  • Strong lateral leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proven executive presentation skills.
  • Experience working with Business and IT Architects in requirements analysis and modeling tools (e.g., IRIS, Sparx, or other similar tools).
  • Knowledge of Business Architecture Guild (BIZBOK) and The Open Architecture Framework (TOGAF) or other architectural framework.
  • Experience with Commercial domains and technology systems.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple priorities and initiatives at the same time.
  • Experience driving change initiatives within an organization.
