About The Position

Quanta South Region is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team in the Houston, TX office. This role will support estimating efforts for industrial projects within the Oil & Gas midstream and downstream sectors, with a strong emphasis on mechanical and piping scopes, as well as civil and structural work. The Senior Estimator will play a key role in developing accurate, competitive cost estimates for EPC and design-build projects. This position requires a deep understanding of industrial construction methods, material takeoffs, labor productivity, and cost controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline required; equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of estimating experience in industrial construction, with significant emphasis on mechanical and piping scopes.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing estimates for midstream and downstream Oil & Gas projects, including terminals, processing plants, pipelines, and related facilities.
  • Strong understanding of civil and structural construction practices, methodologies, and associated cost drivers.
  • Advanced proficiency in Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, civil drawings, and structural plans.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for pre-bid site visits as needed.

  • Experience supporting EPC and/or design-build delivery models preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for civil, structural, and mechanical construction scopes, with a primary focus on piping and mechanical systems.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, and equipment pricing using Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Excel.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure estimates are accurate, complete, and aligned with project requirements.
  • Collaborate with project management, engineering, and construction teams to validate estimating assumptions and execution strategies.
  • Develop pricing proposals for lump sum, unit rate, and time-and-materials contracts.
  • Create and maintain construction schedules using Microsoft Project.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations to ensure compliance with project scope and estimating standards.
  • Identify project risks, exclusions, clarifications, and value-engineering opportunities.
  • Support bid reviews, estimate reconciliations, and post-bid turnover meetings.
  • Maintain and update estimating databases, historical cost records, and productivity benchmarks.
