Position Overview Lead Universal Logistics on-site warehouse operation supporting GM’s Lake Orion Assembly. Own safety, service, quality, cost, and people results across small lot, bulk, container management, sequencing, and kitting. Drive daily execution and continuous improvement in a high-volume, multi-shift, 400+ person facility.

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years in warehousing/logistics/manufacturing leadership; automotive/OEM or Tier 1 preferred.
  • Proven success running high-volume, multi-shift operations (200+ employees).
  • Deep knowledge of sequencing, kitting, inventory control, JIT/JIS, and material flow.
  • Strong customer management; able to represent UL with GM daily.
  • Demonstrated results in safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvement.
  • Fluent with WMS/ERP, Excel/Power BI, and KPI reporting.
  • Excellent communication, problem solving, and change leadership.
  • Flexible to support all shifts and spend time on the floor as needed

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for a 400+ employees, multi‑shift warehouse operation supporting GM Lake Orion Assembly.
  • Maintain a strong, solutions‑focused partnership with GM through consistent communication and alignment on production needs.
  • Champion a safety‑first culture and ensure full compliance with OSHA, GM, and Universal Logistics standards.
  • Lead and develop supervisors and frontline teams, strengthening performance, accountability, and employee engagement through task driven results.
  • Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, labor planning, and cost‑control initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement through LEAN practices, standardization, and data‑driven decision-making.
  • Ensure accurate material flow, inventory control, and timely, JIT/JIS delivery to GM assembly operations.
  • Ensure all MHE and automation assets are properly maintained.
