About The Position

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Government Human Services Consulting team at Mercer. Mercer’s Government Human Services Consulting (GHSC) practice has touched more than 60 million lives since our inception in 1985, working with state Medicaid agencies to transform Medicaid programs to better serve our most vulnerable communities. Our nearly 500 specialists provide comprehensive services including actuarial and financial, clinical and behavioral health, pharmacy, policy, and more. Sr. Government Health Actuary We will count on you to: Participate in routine client engagements, managing overall service delivery and strategy, financial evaluations, plan design, and more Draft and review client reports and presentations to summarize findings and implications, and recommend strategies and solutions to the client Perform and review complex analyses and cost projects by using or modifying existing tools and pricing models, and review analyses conducted by junior staff to ensure actuarial soundness and correct use of models Handle day-to-day client contact and management, resolving any project-related questions and challenges, and guide junior staff members in client interactions Assist senior team members in the development of the business by identifying potential areas of growth in existing projects, and provide assistance in responding to requests for information or proposals

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree
  • 5+ years health actuarial experience, with 3+ years of Medicaid leadership actuarial experience
  • Ability to handle client and project management in a demanding work environment with tight deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Medicaid actuarial experience spanning multiple states, programs, health insurers, or Federal agencies and actuarial consulting experience
  • Actuarial credentials (ASA, FSA, or MAAA)
  • Experience related to health plan analysis or capitated rate development
