Under the direction of the Grants Management (GM) Supervisor, the Senior Grant Accountant will be responsible for preparing financial reports and providing analysis for more complex assignments to internal and external customers, including CFO, management staff, funders, grantors, and government agencies. Assist with daily activities and special projects of the Grants Management Department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent required.
  • 6+ years’ work experience in Accounting or Finance specifically with preparation of financial statements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including intermediate knowledge of Excel and Word desired.
  • Extensive experience with computerized accounting system.
  • Some travel/business related driving required for all staff, large divisional events, and specified meetings. Staff may choose any mode of transportation (driving, walking, bicycling, carpooling, etc.) to arrive to and depart from the location where attendance is required. Should a staff member choose to drive, the staff member must become an approved driver with CCRC prior to driving on behalf of CCRC. Approved drivers driving on behalf of CCRC may choose to drive a CCRC vehicle or own vehicle and must meet requirements to be an approved driver including holding and maintaining current auto insurance, current California Driver’s License and receiving DMV clearance.
  • This position is hybrid. Full time, typically M-F, regular business hours
  • Background requirements determined according to the requirements of the program(s) which the position will be supporting. Background check required. As a grant-funded Agency supporting Children and Family Services, CCRC conducts background checks commensurate with the role to verify candidate qualifications (criminal history, employment history / experience, education, reference checks) and ensure grant compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis, Reporting, and Compliance (45%) Perform variance analysis and financial forecasts for assigned contracts; analyze and challenge financial data to ensure accuracy, resolve issues, and ensure proper recording and presentation of financial results. Present findings to GM Supervisor, GM Director, Program Staff, and other management as requested. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual funder reports, including invoices, financial statements, and required supporting documentation. Ensure compliance with applicable legislation and federal and state regulations; maintain accurate and complete records and ensure timely, accurate reporting to federal and state authorities.
  • Grant Accounting and General Ledger Oversight (30%) Set up new grants and contracts in Workday, including setting up billing schedules and related system requirements. Develop, maintain, and enhance Adaptive reports required to manage assigned grants; collaborate with GM Supervisor and FP&A on grant-related reporting and analysis. Review, approve, and prepare journal vouchers (JVs), accounts receivable billings (CINVs), accounts receivable adjustments (ACPs), and other adjusting entries for assigned grants. Exercise sound judgment to ensure accuracy of general ledger transactions, monitor through grant closeout, and provide guidance and corrections as needed. Review and recommend distribution codes and cost allocation methodologies; propose updates and assist with maintenance of the Cost Allocation Plan.
  • Budget Development and Grant Lifecycle Management (15%) Prepare budgets for annual refunding applications for assigned grants; collaborate with GM Supervisor and Program Management and update Adaptive funder-approved budgets to ensure alignment with the Agency annual budget. Perform grant closeout activities for assigned grants, including reconciliations, financial status reports, final invoices, year-end liquidations, budget closeouts, and final financial reporting. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of funding and grants outside assigned portfolio to support overall grant management effectiveness. Respond to funder inquiries and requests for assigned grants; collaborate with GM Supervisor and Grant Management staff to support Program Management needs.
  • Training, Collaboration, and Process Improvement (5%) Support GM Supervisor in providing guidance, mentoring, and cross-departmental training to Grants Management team members; assist with leading cross-functional teams and initiatives. Assist with designing, implementing, and documenting procedures to improve departmental efficiency; ensure processes comply with company policies, professional standards, and GAAP reporting requirements. Attend, participate, and/or facilitate department, program, staff and other meetings as necessary.
  • Audits, Research, and Special Projects (5%) Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation for the annual financial audit. Lead efforts for audits conducted by funders and grantors for assigned programs. Perform ad hoc assignments and research projects as needed.
