About The Position

The Sr. Manager, Merchandising Business Systems and Process plays a critical role in driving BJ’s merchandising success by modernizing how the Merchandising organization plans, executes, and governs its work through scalable processes and enabling technology. This role is a key change agent, focused on addressing current gaps in process design, documentation, and system support, and translating business needs into sustainable solutions that improve speed, accuracy, and decision-making across Merchandising. This role is responsible for leading the identification, design, and implementation of improved merchandising processes and systems in close partnership with merchants, cross-functional stakeholders, and technology teams. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Merch Program Management, Platforms & Analytics, the Sr. Manager will help move the organization from heavily manual, Excel-based, and antiquated solutions toward standardized, automated, and well-governed capabilities that enable growth and executional excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, or a related field required
  • 8+ years of experience in merchandising operations, workflow management systems or process excellence
  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional planning processes
  • Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities

  • Advance merchandising capabilities through technology and process innovation, with a focus on improving effectiveness, efficiency, and scalability
  • Partner closely with merchants and cross-functional teams (e.g., Supply Chain, IT, Finance, Pricing, Continuous Improvement) to understand business needs and translate them into clear system and process requirements
  • Lead efforts to redesign poorly conceived or undocumented processes, including but not limited to promotional planning, item setup, and master data management
  • Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement team to develop streamlined, efficient, and standardized end-to-end processes
  • Work closely with IT and Product Management to evaluate, develop or procure, implement, and enable systems that support modern merchandising workflows
  • Serve as a key business owner and subject matter expert for merchandising systems and processes, ensuring solutions align to business strategy and operational realities
  • Support the centralization and optimization of repeatable and automatable process steps, enabling consistent execution and reducing manual effort
  • Develop clear process documentation, governance models, and success metrics to ensure long-term adoption and continuous improvement
  • Influence change without direct authority, driving alignment and adoption across a diverse set of stakeholders
