About The Position

The purpose of this role is to ensure the efficient, reliable, and safe operation of the site’s utilities and facilities by providing expert technical support and execution of operational and maintenance activities for equipment and processes. This role focuses on the upkeep and optimization of infrastructure, including HVAC, steam, water, natural gas, compressed air, electrical systems, and facility controls. Key responsibilities include executing maintenance tasks, troubleshooting and repairing essential site systems, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. By maintaining and enhancing facility operations, this role is crucial in supporting overall site efficiency and reliability. The incumbent will actively embody Dynamic Shared Ownership (DSO) principles while leading with the Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, and Coach (VACC) leadership model.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, interpret/comprehend/follow workplace and technical documentation -- equipment manuals, blueprints, diagrams, electrical schematics, operator manuals, work instructions, SOPs, etc.
  • Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems including: gear ratios, power transmission, machine timing, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical/electronic systems, programmable logic controllers, lubrication, and maintenance/changeover of machines/production line.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electromechanical equipment and technical issues, successfully set up/changeover multiple pieces of packaging/manufacturing equipment, complete preventive maintenance work (PMs), resolve problems, and learn new procedures within a reasonable time frame.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a good mathematical aptitude in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, & experience with metric and English standard systems.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Good PC Skills, including use of e-mail, attaching documents to e-mail. Previous experience using electronic databases and on-line tools required (i.e., but not limited to, Lotus Notes database, Employee Self-Services on-line tools, etc)
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely in a production environment.
  • Experience in a government regulated, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or standard operating procedures (SOP) environment.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as required, based on production demands.
  • Experience operating a lathe, vertical milling machine, horizontal milling machine, drill presses, and grinders.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate typical maintenance shop equipment (i.e. brakes, shears, band saw, spot welder, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to read/use basic electrical and mechanical drawings, technical mathematics, blueprints, electrical/electronic schematics and technical tools and electrical/electronic equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to measure and add amounts of chemicals for testing, read and interprets test results, determine and measure chemical quantities to adjust "out of specification" conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to progressively manage maintenance support systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish operating parameters and maintain specific standards of performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand various basic electrical items, such as switches, wiring, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience performing electrical circuit tests to diagnose problems and repair low and medium voltage wiring and component problems.
  • Demonstrated VACC leadership skills (Visionary, Architect, Catalyst, Coach) in fostering site capabilities, innovation and sustainability.
  • Ability to work the 3rd shift (11:00 PM – 9:20 AM) from Friday - Monday.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical Associate’s Degree.
  • 2 years of experience working with PLC's, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronics, fabrication, and/or industrial maintenance.
  • 2 years of vocational technical training and 5 years of experience working with PLC's, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronics, fabrication, and /or industrial maintenance.
  • Previous experience using motorized & non-motorized material handling equipment.
  • Advanced Manufacturing Integrated Systems Technology (AMIST) certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safe work practices relating to 13,800 to 69,000 volt systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480 Volts.
  • Demonstrated ability in diagnosing, troubleshooting, modifying and repairing circuits up to 120 VAC.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Compliance and Safety: Follow all workplace standards, including cGMPs, OSHA, and SOPs, while maintaining a clean and orderly work environment and participating in safety projects.
  • Preventive and Routine Maintenance: Perform preventive, routine, and non-routine maintenance tasks, ensuring completion within scheduled dates and maintaining accurate documentation and logs.
  • Facilities and Systems Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on critical facility systems including fire protection systems, security systems, and mechanical systems such as pumps, fans, and electrical circuits. Perform fabrication tasks including cutting, welding, and assembling parts from metals and plastics, and diagnose and repair low and medium voltage wiring issues.
  • Equipment Setup and Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480 volts, set up and changeover equipment, and establish operating parameters to maximize production efficiency.
  • Process Control Systems: Hands-on troubleshooting and modification of control systems for manufacturing and packaging, including reading electrical schematics, configuring PLCs, VFDs, and HMIs. Perform equipment calibrations using specialized tools, support the upgrade of automation equipment, and ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, and equivalent codes.
  • Team Collaboration and Support: Provide overall team support, including equipment operation and training.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making and advanced analytics to monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Define scope and lead continuous improvements focused on cost reduction and work simplification
  • Foster a culture of ownership and empowerment through education and development that build team competency in MEU processes and equipment operation and maintenance.
