Job Summary:

Prepares medications for dispensing, restocking or delivery from outpatient
prescriptions. Follows procedures, select methods, techniques and analytical
approaches. Performs a variety of inventory control and related clerical duties
in support of the purchasing and dispensing function. Maintains records orders,
receives and stores pharmacy inventory. Maintains proper inventory levels and
ensures correct prices are billed from vendors. Serves as a training resource
for new technicians and assists in evaluating their progress as directed.
Assists in preparing schedules and setting work priorities.

Requirements

• State Pharmacy Techncian license: Required in CA and OR
• State Pharmacy Technician (PTC): Required

Nice To Haves

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
• One year's pharmacy technical experience: Preferred
• Pharmaceutical Technician Board certification: Preferred

Responsibilities

• Pulls medications from stock and matches medications with the corresponding label generated by the pharmacist involved with entry of medication orders into the patient’s computer generated profile. Performs pharmacy technician duties in a specialty area applying specialized knowledge and skills.
• Maintains stock (accuracy, timely restocking, removal of expired medications, rotate stock) of medication areas. Prices and stocks incoming deliveries. Notifies Pharmacists of out of stock medications and appropriately updates the out of stock board. Restocks returned medications.
• Maintains controlled-drug medication records, assist in the filling of patient prescriptions and prepare unit-dose medications all under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Assists in maintaining accurate patient information in the pharmacy computer database.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
