NextEra Energy’s Power Generation Division is currently seeking a Senior Engineer who can apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments and fields related to solar power generation. This candidate will need to make decisions independently regarding engineering issues and processes. This position requires supervision only related to high level objective and critical issues. Areas of responsibility will include, but not be limited to: Become a subject matter expert in Distributed Generation solar equipment Support component failure rate analysis and development of work plans Conducting root-cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures at solar sites Providing assistance to field technicians with troubleshooting inverter and other solar issues Support the development of countermeasures for recurring issues Support key initiatives for the Solar Fleet Willingness to travel to sites as required, up to 20% Job OverviewEmployees in this role have responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments. This involves exploration of subject area, definition of scope, selection of areas for investigation, and development of novel concepts.Job Duties & Responsibilities• Plans and develops engineering projects concerned with unique or controversial complexities which have important impact on major company programs • Acts as technical liaison to individuals within and outside the organization with responsibility to act independently regarding technical matters pertaining to individual's field • Completes assignments given in broad terms concerning general objectives and limitations • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Bachelor’s Degree in other Engineering discipline with equivalent experience with electrical systems
- 5+ years of engineering experience
- Bachelor's - Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program
- Experience:5+ years
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering
- >2 years of experience with solar inverters
- Experience with electrical system modelling software (PSSE, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, etc.)
- Six Sigma Green Belt
- Supervisor/Management Experience:0+ years
Responsibilities
