Responsibilities
Internal/external technical contact for various processes including atomization, screening, blending, loading, and testing of powder.
Creation, maintenance, and standardization of operating instructions, mill instructions, items, grades, sample plans, follower sheets, and other quality system documents for powder alloys.
Develop and maintain technical expertise in powder atomization and processing through experimentation, technical literature review, best practice exchanges across the company, and attending technical conferences.
Establish, monitor, and maintain statistical process control (SPC) limits for key products and processes within area of responsibility.
Utilize team-based Continuous Improvement tools throughout the manufacturing process of powder products, leading to increased yield, better quality, enhanced safety in the workplace, improved equipment performance, and reduced costs.
Support powder testing method development, validation, and standardization across facilities.
Support certifications of powder orders and shipments with certification team.
Review customer specifications and support sales teams by approving customer quotes.
Provide technical support to commercial teams during customer engagement for both on-site and off-site meetings.
Provide technical support in resolving product and process non-conformances, customer complaints, and process and product data analysis.
Timely communication of results to management, operations, colleagues, and customers in the form of written reports and oral presentations.
Willing to travel (2-4 times per year).
Requirements
B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
A minimum 2-year process or product engineering experience related to Ni/Fe/Co-base super alloys, titanium, specialty steels, and/or refractory alloys is preferred.
Working knowledge of powder production, processing, and applications is preferred.
Nice-to-haves
Experience in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies is preferred.
Statistical data analysis experience using JMP, Mini-Tab, or related software is preferred.
