Responsibilities

  • Internal/external technical contact for various processes including atomization, screening, blending, loading, and testing of powder.
  • Creation, maintenance, and standardization of operating instructions, mill instructions, items, grades, sample plans, follower sheets, and other quality system documents for powder alloys.
  • Develop and maintain technical expertise in powder atomization and processing through experimentation, technical literature review, best practice exchanges across the company, and attending technical conferences.
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain statistical process control (SPC) limits for key products and processes within area of responsibility.
  • Utilize team-based Continuous Improvement tools throughout the manufacturing process of powder products, leading to increased yield, better quality, enhanced safety in the workplace, improved equipment performance, and reduced costs.
  • Support powder testing method development, validation, and standardization across facilities.
  • Support certifications of powder orders and shipments with certification team.
  • Review customer specifications and support sales teams by approving customer quotes.
  • Provide technical support to commercial teams during customer engagement for both on-site and off-site meetings.
  • Provide technical support in resolving product and process non-conformances, customer complaints, and process and product data analysis.
  • Timely communication of results to management, operations, colleagues, and customers in the form of written reports and oral presentations.
  • Willing to travel (2-4 times per year).

Requirements

  • B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • A minimum 2-year process or product engineering experience related to Ni/Fe/Co-base super alloys, titanium, specialty steels, and/or refractory alloys is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of powder production, processing, and applications is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies is preferred.
  • Statistical data analysis experience using JMP, Mini-Tab, or related software is preferred.
  • Recent graduates will be considered.
