The Senior Residential Counselor at Withdrawal Management interacts with a client population that is actively intoxicated and/or experiencing withdrawal symptoms. In this role you will provides milieu management, guidance, safety, stability, and direction to clients and staff. This position works in person at our Crisis & Recovery Center in Wheat Ridge, CO. The working hours for this position are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday - 9:00pm-7:00am. (Overnights)

Requirements

Minimum of High school diploma or equivalent, and Certified Addiction Technician (CAT) or ability to obtain CAT within eighteen months of hire.
QMAP certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
Driver's License with acceptable driving record that meets agency requirements. Minimum age for driving eligibility is 25 years old.

Nice To Haves

Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a related field (psychology, counseling, human services, or social work) and Certified Addiction Specialist (CAS) or ability to obtain CAS within 18 months of hire.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred

Responsibilities

Monitor client activities on assigned shift.
Monitors and provides Administrative Supervision to Residential Counselors to ensure completion of duties, provide oversight during assigned shifts, coordinate transportation needs, and support Residential Counselor’s growth and development.
Performs accurate and timely documentation at all times, including admission and discharge notes, required forms, screening and inventory of all client belongings, documentation of all significant interactions with each client. Remains in accordance with regulatory requirements and clinical guidelines.
Facilitate and co-facilitate psychoeducation groups on unit with clients.
Community outreach and engagement offsite, as needed.
Coordinates treatment referrals for clients motivated to seek on-going treatment.
Interfaces with the Office of Behavioral Health and Signal regarding status and treatment planning for clients on an Involuntary Commitment.
Works with Manger and Program Coordinator(s) to coordinate unit needs including client care, coverage needs, and day-to-day activities as needed
Adheres to medication monitoring policies and procedures.
Completes daily shift reports as well as adverse incident reports (AIR’s), refusal and medical screening documentation in accordance with procedures in a timely manner.
Monitors staff adherence to cash and property handling procedures.
May be assigned to review and co-sign clinical documentation.
Makes decisions regarding client appropriateness for admission, discharge or transfer to a higher level of care as well as ensuring client safety, utilizing medical director consult as needed and assessing for Emergency Commitments as needed.
Monitors and documents client levels of intoxication, including breath alcohol levels, withdrawal symptoms, vital signs, physical condition and behavior.
Effectively responds to client needs and problems, initiates and maintains positive interactions, timely response to phone calls, email, and other requests.
Adheres to all Jefferson Center Policies and Procedures and Withdrawal Management Policies and Procedures.
Participates in staff development activities that enhance professional growth.
Attends mandatory in-services, staff meetings, clinical supervision, and on-line training as required.
Participates in supervision by coming prepared with an agenda. Reports high risk/problem cases using a problem-solving approach as well as feedback. Support staff in meeting their administrative and clinical goals.
Participates in and promotes a positive, supportive, cooperative team environment.
Have an understanding of how trauma impacts the lives of the people being served, so that every interaction is consistent with the recovery process and reduces the possibility of re-traumatization. Ensure that delivery practices are guided by the principles of trauma informed care and the principles of addiction treatment.
Maintains effective interpersonal relations with consumers, peers, subordinates, upper management, visitors, and the general public. Uses language and behavior to promote dignity and respect. Exhibits enthusiasm, respect, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment. Must be sensitive to the diverse cultural and situational needs of the clients.
Participates in the Center’s training/educational programs designed to enhance knowledge about Trauma Informed Care, the impact of trauma and trauma recovery.
